Original comedy song by "Weird Al" Yankovic, the closing track of his 1986 album Polka Party! and a single for the 1986 Christmas season. It is a style parody of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound Christmas records that sets holiday cheer against a nuclear attack.
Performance tips
- Sing it sweet and sunny like a 1960s girl-group record; the contrast is the joke.
- Do not wink too hard; play the cheerful delivery completely straight.
- Keep the bouncy tempo and let the crowd catch the dark punchlines.
