Christmas ballad written and produced by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, released by Mud on RAK in November 1974. Performed in the style of Elvis Presley's later ballads, it was the UK Christmas number one and spent four weeks at the top.
Performance tips
- Channel 1970s Elvis: low, breathy croon and a little vibrato on the long notes.
- The spoken section is your chance to ham it up, so play it straight-faced for laughs.
- Keep the tempo slow and let the backing vocals carry the sway.
