Closing track of Blue Öyster Cult's 1977 album Spectres, written by Joe Bouchard and Helen Wheels and sung by Joe Bouchard. Its lyrics retell the story of F. W. Murnau's 1922 vampire film Nosferatu.
Performance tips
- Sing it like a ghost story told by candlelight: soft, eerie and patient in the verses.
- Let the long instrumental passages breathe and play to the crowd instead of filling the space.
- Build the drama gradually because at over five minutes it rewards a slow burn.
