Duet recorded in September 1977 by Bing Crosby and David Bowie for the TV special Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas, pairing the carol The Little Drummer Boy with the newly written counter-melody Peace on Earth. It aired in 1977 but was not issued as a single until 1982, when it reached the UK top three.
Performance tips
- Best as a duet: one singer takes the smooth crooner part, the other the soaring counter-melody.
- Keep the tempo gentle and blend, don't compete; the two lines are meant to weave together.
- Save the big voice for the final swell where both parts come together.
